A flexible and accessible minor program that provides an additional credential for students interested in careers in a wide spectrum of life sciences and medical-related fields including law enforcement, mental health, public health, health care administration, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Learning Outcomes
Students will:
1. identify and describe the structure and function of major human body systems (e.g., cardiovascular, nervous, digestive) and explain how they interact to maintain homeostasis.
2. demonstrate understanding of the biological basis of health and disease
3. evaluate scientific and medical claims and participate more effectively in discussions about health and environmental issues.
4. integrate knowledge from different disciplines (e.g., social sciences, anthropology) to understand the complex aspects of human biology.

1. At least three courses must be taken at Buffalo State.
2. A maximum of 3 transfer courses (12 credits maximum) will be accepted as part of the Biology minor. The Department Chairperson will judge the acceptability of transfer courses.
3. A student considering the Human Biology minor should check the Undergraduate Catalog for prerequisite requirements.
4. Biology majors (BA or BS) cannot declare the Human Biology minor.
